I am reminded again and again about the importance of wine in our collective cultures. Wine is shared by people the world over. While you are traveling try to partake in the local wines. Not only will it open up your wine palate it can also create great memories with new people and places. The funny thing about tasting wine in other locales is that if a wine tastes ‘fantastic’ there, it might not be so great at home. Do you know why? Think about it – you are enjoying the wine in a different, hopefully beautiful surroundings, with a different circle of people, hopefully to become life long friends, and you are on vacation. All of those factors combined can enhance the taste of the wine. So go ahead and order a case of the wine anyway. When you uncork the bottle at home, all those great memories will come back to you and make you happy.
