Caribbean destinations up

Brian Major of TravelPulse.com writes, "Online travel retailer Expedia reported a 12 percent increase in room nights booked to Caribbean destinations in the fourth quarter of 2011. The sales were recorded via the Expedia and Hotels.com websites. Of the destinations tracked, the destinations with the largest year-over-year bookings growth were Trinidad & Tobago, with a 46 percent increase in bookings; the Dominican Republic (40 percent); and the Bahamas (25 percent). Also, Curacao bookings increased 21 percent, bookings in the Turks & Caicos grew 18 percent and St. Lucia increased by 15 percent. Caribbean bookings from the U.S. increased 12 percent. Bahamas room nights for 2012 are running 30 percent above 2011 levels, and may reach 200,000 room nights, according to an Expedia official."
As shown in this article sun and sand always wins out even in recovering economy. When people want to relax and forget their troubles, even for just a week, nothing beats good old sunshine. I know that I am looking forward to escaping to the Western Caribbean in September with the bands. This is going to be the start of beautiful friendship.
